Drone footage filmed by Tirana Police shows how far drug distribution has penetrated near schools in the capital; people under surveillance approach the school's fences to carry out the exchange with students.
In the footage obtained during the investigation, the distributor is seen standing outside the school grounds, while the student approaches from the other side of the fence. The exchange between them takes place through the bars, without the need for the seller to enter the school premises.
The footage is part of a four-month investigation by the Tirana Police and Prosecution Office, which ended with the operation codenamed "Clean Schools", through which several groups were targeted that, according to the police, were selling narcotics near 9-year and high schools, but also in other areas of the capital.
The investigation identified 52 people suspected of being involved in this activity. For 31 of them, the security measure "Arrest in prison" was executed, 14 others were declared wanted, while 7 people were arrested during the four months of the investigation.
In some cases, drugs were transported by skateboards, taxis, or through delivery services.
During the investigation and execution of security measures, 1 kilogram and 75 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 265 grams of cocaine and 685 grams of cannabis were seized. Police also seized a pistol, 90 cartridges, two electronic scales, 12 vehicles and 35 mobile phones.
Operation "Clean Schools" continues with the search for 14 other individuals identified during the investigation, whose names have not been made public due to the ongoing investigation.
