A smuggling scheme was busted at the border crossings of Kakavija and Kapshtica, following checks carried out on the basis of risk analysis. During the checks of three vehicles, undeclared goods and cases where the nature of the goods was declared differently, with the aim of avoiding customs duties, were discovered. The goods were seized, while administrative measures were imposed on the persons involved and the cases were referred to the Prosecutor's Office.
According to customs, the evaded duties amount to around 1.6 million lek, while the penalties amount to 2.5 million lek. In total, the duties and fines amount to around 4.1 million lek.
