Vincenzo Montella has been the protagonist, as coach of Turkey, of the national team's revival, leading it to the last World Cup. But at the moment, it seems that nothing is going in the right direction for the famous "Aeroplanino", who are with zero points in the standings, with a total of 4 losses suffered in these first 4 matches of the Nations League. But despite the 4-1 loss in the first leg and 3-1 in the return, Montella does not agree with those who rush to judge this Turkey: "I don't know if disappointment is the right term after this match, but we played to a draw, maybe we did something more, we conceded three goals due to episodes, but I can't blame the boys for not making the right choice, football is like that, because in these matches the episode determines the result and the judgment".
But Montella does not believe in this Italy that for everyone has to rebuild everything from scratch. The coach from Campania is convinced that this is a team with value and wanted to emphasize: "If I look at the substitutions of Italy, Calafiori, Pio Esposito and Tonali entered the field, for a total value of probably 350 million euros and, in this sense, I do not believe that it is anyone's fault and my team stood up to players of this level".
Montella hints that he does not want to believe the story that Italy is no longer one of the great powers of football, underlining that there is value in this team. Apparently, the Turkish coach refers to the current market value of these three players who play for Arsenal, Tottenham and Inter. Montella, in a way, exonerates his team, emphasizing that they have played an important match against a valuable opponent. And he clarifies an aspect regarding his work as coach of the Turkish national team:
"What's happening with Turkey now? We're just at a new level, we're missing important players to take us a step further - Montella explains. - We've been following a path where qualifying for the European Championship is important, involving young players with little experience, who also play a little with their clubs, but also looking towards the future."
So, Turkey is planning for the future and, despite the losses, knows that before reaching a moderately high level, it will have to suffer a few more losses, like the one tonight. It is about a national team that this evening could not count on star Arda Guler, due to suspension, without forgetting the absence of the reference point of his Turkey, Hakan Calhanoglu, who is still facing some physical concerns that have forced him to stay in Italy to be treated with Inter. Finally, Kenan Yildiz, who after the operation is going through a recovery period to return to the field at full capacity, which will certainly help Juventus, but also his Turkey itself.
