At a time when 15 small municipalities are expected to merge and the new territorial map is expected to be approved on October 8, eyes are on whether or not Rama will secure 84 votes to implement his plan.
Today, while the draft law in question is being discussed in the Laws Committee, a protest is being held outside the Presidency of the Assembly, precisely by residents of the municipalities affected by the merger plan. But it seems that with the recent movements within the SP, Rama's 'headache' has also begun, as to how the latter will secure the votes to approve the new territorial reform, with the new division.
The majority's concern began after two of its MPs, Erion Braçe and Vullnet Sina, opposed the new territorial map in a closed-door meeting today, claiming that it would reduce efficiency and services to residents.
Although the majority always has the 3 votes of the PSD, this time it seems that Rama is 'caught tight', as under these conditions he only secures 80 votes, putting the draft at risk of being defeated.
