Hundreds of Albanians have gathered in The Hague, near the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, in support of former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. Shortly before the start of the hearing, there were tensions between the Albanian side and the Dutch police. The Dutch police asked the protesters several times to leave the court entrance and move to the authorized protest area. The officers warned that if the order was not followed, they would intervene to remove them.
This led to verbal clashes with some of the protesters. After repeated warnings from the police, the situation calmed down and the protesters stopped shouting at the officers. The rally takes place on the day when the Specialist Chambers are expected to announce the first instance verdict against the four former KLA leaders. The hearing for the announcement of the verdict is scheduled for today at 10:00.
