The fact that no institution of our public administration noticed that millions of euros were invested in phantom incinerators, that AKSHI was controlled by an ordinary criminal, that the directors of the Municipality of Tirana awarded tenders to themselves, or that the police director and the director of SHISH worked for Gysi, shows that we do not have a public administration and a state.

The package of drastic changes to the Criminal Procedure Code, although stemming from the Prime Minister's concern to protect himself and his associates, creates an extremely broad shield for citizens against an increasingly repressive justice system.

The fact that high-ranking officials of our state worship such scoundrels as Agasi is evidence of corruption, not romantic sensitivity. The highest levels of the state should serve as a moral and principled compass for the ordinary citizen, and not degrade below the moral level of the population. This is precisely what shocks us in the case of Ms. Hyseni. Her moral and principled compass was below the level of the citizen.

Vlora is neither a pear nor a peach that someone eats behind the Prime Minister's back. It is the most blatant illustration of how Edi Rama himself has put the country's institutions at the service of his power, which is essentially the power of crime.

Rama's insistence that the Zvërnec project will proceed even though it is already a symbol of a triple crime (environmental, economic and political) of the current government shows that he either cannot or will not hear the call of protest.

In the mortuary halls of the renaissance, everyone knows that the Prime Minister's babble cannot change the reality they have brought the country to. No mirror can reflect an Albania other than the one that actually exists.

A pact has been drawn up between the prime minister and the imprisoned mayor to return the latter to office. But what would be the consequence for a justice reform, that the high-ranking officials have kicked down the doors of his cells?

It is the first time that Albanians feel they can shape the national debate without waiting for political parties to take the lead. Experience teaches us that democracy depends not only on elections, but also on active citizenship among them.
