Former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri is preparing a return to the public space, this time through a multimedia production in collaboration with the media outlet "Zëri".
The project is expected to bring Tahiri's account of one of the most controversial periods of his political career, but also testimonies from people who were part of the events of that time. The aim is to reconstruct episodes known and less known to the public, through memories, characters and materials of the time.
"I have lived some stories. I have heard others told about me. See you soon. There is so much to tell," Tahiri warned.
The new public appearance comes at a time when the former minister's name has gradually begun to return to the spotlight. In recent months, he has appeared active again on social networks, after a long period of low profile. Meanwhile, his criminal case continues to be in the High Court, where a hearing date had not yet been set according to reports in July. Tahiri was convicted of abuse of office, while he was declared innocent of charges of drug trafficking and organized criminal group.
In the background, rumors have also circulated about Tahiri's rapprochement with Socialist Party exponents, including Belinda Balluku, as well as his visits to the SP headquarters. So far, there has been no public confirmation that Tahiri has been given an office at the Socialist headquarters or that he has taken on a formal role in the party. It is not known whether Tahiri is simply preparing his version of the events that marked the end of his ministerial career, whether he is seeking a return to public life, or whether he has decided to speak out after seeing the recent developments within the majority and the justice institutions.
