The victims of the explosion that collapsed a building in the Plaka neighborhood of Athens, where six people died, have been identified.
Three of the victims are Albanian-Americans Florin Hoxha, his sister Florida Hoxha and Florin's wife, Eris Cani. They were in Athens on vacation. Ian Alexander Kirkpatrick, Florida Hoxha's husband, also died in the tragedy. The couple had recently married and, according to relatives, had traveled to Greece for their honeymoon.
Florin Hoxha and Eris Cani were expecting a child.
The two couples had rented an apartment on the first floor of the building. The other victims are Athena Paparescu and Edmond Hings, the owners of the building, who lived on the second floor. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. Greek authorities are investigating, among other things, the possibility of a gas leak.
