The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held the Renewal Speech in Lezha this Tuesday, October 6, where he spoke about the economic crisis, emigration and the need to reorganize the opposition with the aim of returning to government.
Berisha called on the Democrats to open the party to young people, women and new arrivals. He also praised the stability of the DP structures during the years in opposition.
During his speech, Berisha accused the Rama government of increasing poverty and the cost of living. According to him, pensioners are facing difficulties in affording food and medicine, while many young people are leaving Albania because they see no opportunity to build a sustainable life.
"There is only one main cause and that is poverty, poverty and only poverty," said Berisha, linking mass emigration to the country's economic situation.
Presenting the program for a future DP government, Berisha promised a living wage of 200 euros for every citizen, halving the state burden on entrepreneurship, and increasing support for farmers.
He also stated that the Open Balkans will be canceled in the first week of a DP government.
The democratic leader also spoke about what he considered to be the achievements of his government, mentioning the National Road, investments in schools and hospitals, increases in salaries and pensions, and the development of domestic production.
According to Berisha, the DP's goal is for economic growth to once again translate into welfare for citizens.
At the end of his speech, Berisha harshened his tone towards the mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu. He accused Ndreu of unjustified wealth and warned of its confiscation.
"Let's renew the DP, let's renew Albania," was Berisha's message from Lezha.
