The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted regarding the investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, raising questions about why a new request from SPAK to lift her immunity has not yet arrived in the Assembly.
"It has been 5 days since SPAK announced that Belinda Balluku has been indicted on three new charges, but the Assembly has not yet received any new request from SPAK to lift her immunity from arrest," he wrote.
In a post on social media, the DP MP says that Balluk is now facing three new charges that he describes as among the most serious for a high-ranking official, specifically passive corruption, money laundering, and concealment of assets.
He also dwells on the new evidence from SPAK, which relates to two hidden villas of Balluk in two of the most luxurious resorts on the coast, and raises questions about SPAK's position, demanding to know why no new action has been taken regarding the security measure against Balluk.
"So, the charges have been aggravated, Belinda Balluku's criminal position as well, but SPAK is silent about the aggravated security measure. A standard that SPAK's leader, Klodian Braho, accepted and implemented in December. Why is SPAK becoming part of the political game and giving Edi Rama time for political maneuvers?", he writes.
"How many more villas must be revealed to Belinda Balluku for SPAK to obey the law and not the 'Valamar Alliance'?" he asks in the end.
Full statement
It has been 5 days since SPAK announced that Belinda Balluku has been indicted on three new charges, but the Assembly has not yet received any new request from SPAK to lift her immunity from arrest. The former deputy prime minister is facing the most serious charges for a high-ranking official: passive corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, which are added to the first charge of violating equality in 8 procurement procedures worth 1.2 billion euros.
New evidence confirms the discovery of two hidden villas belonging to Belinda Balluku in two of the most luxurious resorts on the coast. We have also seen how Mrs. Balluku's taste for blue marble in the Palasa villa competed with the architects' taste for high-end style and materials, such as those of yachts or the most luxurious hotels. All of this is contained in Belinda Balluku's personal email.
So, the charges have been aggravated, as has Belinda Balluku's criminal status, but SPAK is silent about the aggravated security measure. A standard that SPAK's head, Klodian Braho, accepted and implemented in December.
