A 30-year-old Albanian man has been arrested in Trento, Italy, after he attempted to hit two carabinieri officers with his vehicle to evade police control. The court has confirmed the arrest and placed him under house arrest, on charges of aggravated resistance to a public official.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, following a heated argument between the 30-year-old and his wife over child custody issues. Shortly before midnight, as he was returning to his apartment, the Albanian was confronted by a carabinieri patrol that was near his home for another operation.
He suspected that the officers had arrived after a complaint from his wife and reacted aggressively. Italian media write that the Albanian had been reported by his wife in the previous days, after repeated family conflicts.
During the search, the carabinieri found that the vehicle's license plate was covered. They also found an electronic identity document with a forged microchip, as well as a baton. In an attempt to escape, he tried to hit the officers with his car twice, but they managed to avoid the vehicle. According to the court's decision, his behavior was close to attempted murder.
