Minutes after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, the only American delegate in the hall walked out.
Pezeshkian began his speech by contradicting US President Donald Trump's statements yesterday at the UN General Assembly. He said that President Trump described them as "terrorists," but according to him, Iranians have been "victims of terrorism."
"The United States, using weapons with multiple nuclear warheads, targeted that sports hall. They martyred, killed our scientists, our men, women and children. Innocent children who, in fact, had not committed any crime, any sin," said Pezeshkian, while at this moment the American delegate stood up and left.
Meanwhile, among other things during his speech, the Iranian president said that his country is seeking nuclear technology for progress and not to threaten societies with weapons.
"We seek energy for progress," Pezeshkian said, opposing international sanctions and what he described as "stigmatization of Iran's nuclear program."
“But for our country, peaceful nuclear technology is part of our natural progress,” Pezeshkian said, citing the need for advances in industries, including agriculture and electricity supply.
Pezeshkian also said Iran’s defense systems are a necessity to protect the country from attacks.
"Iran must be strong in order to avoid the threat, to avoid the threat to its future. Our defense systems are built in such a way that no one thinks that bombing Iranian cities will go unanswered. That is why we have the military power we have for defense," he said.
The Iranian president during his speech called on countries around the world to work together in search of peace.
"Iran extends its hand to the world, we invite the world. We call on the world, not out of weakness, but out of a deep belief in our strength and determination to cooperate and cooperate, because of a deep belief that no one in this region will have security alone," he said.
