
Four former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, have been declared “Honorary Citizens” of Tirana. The decision was made upon the proposal of Mayor Erion Veliaj and was unanimously approved by the Tirana Municipal Council.
The award was made in honor of the contribution and role of the four figures in the history of Kosovo and in the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army. The Municipality of Tirana has expressed its appreciation for their contribution to the historical processes related to Kosovo and the war for its liberation.

Rexhep Selimi
For the valuable contribution to the Kosovo Liberation Army and to Kosovo's journey towards freedom and independence, with the strong support of the US and Euro-Atlantic partners. For the special connection with Tirana, the capital that stood by Kosovo and its people during the days of war.
