About 30 students from Shalesi, Xarra, Çiflik and Mursia are protesting this Tuesday at the “Lefter Talo” gymnasium in Livadhja, demanding a solution to the problem of school transportation. The students have decided not to go to class, as the bus that transported them to the gymnasium has been out of service for about three weeks. According to the students, when they registered at the “Lefter Talo” gymnasium, they were guaranteed transportation.
The bus operated for the first three days of school, but then the service was discontinued. Since then, students from the four villages have been forced to find their own ways to get to Livadhja and back to their homes. The situation has become even more worrying for the high school graduates, who, in addition to the workload of their final year of high school, face the uncertainty of how they will get to school every day.
The students say that transportation on this route has been free for years and want to know why the service was discontinued this year. According to them, after the bus was discontinued, they were offered paid transportation as an alternative. The issue has also been raised by the management of the “Lefter Talo” high school. According to the students, the management has contacted the municipality several times to resolve the situation, but so far the bus has not been restored.
