The Bologna Court of Appeal reduced the sentence from 17 to 15 years for the perpetrator of the murder of Aurora Tila, the 13-year-old Albanian girl who lost her life on October 25, 2024 in Piacenza, after he threw her from a balcony.
Morena Corbellini, the girl's mother, spoke on the show "Verissimo" about the decision. According to her, the moment when the verdict was announced remains the most difficult.
"When the sentence was read, I felt great pain, infinite pain, a defeat," says the girl's mother, describing a decline not only personal, but also in trust in institutions: "I believed so much in justice, and today I don't believe in it anymore. There is so much disappointment and so much anger."
What weighs most heavily, in his words, is the value the incident should have had for others: "Aurora should have been a warning, but it wasn't. 15 years for the murder of a little girl is unacceptable."
After leaving the courtroom, her first step was to return to the more private space of her home.
"I went to her room to apologize because I didn't get what I wanted," she says, referring to the bedroom she left behind. A plea for forgiveness addressed to those who can no longer hear her speaks to the sense of responsibility with which she has handled the outcome of the proceedings.
Despite everything, the woman does not consider her journey over.
"The battle is not over. I want to understand why the sentences are so low for those who kill," she announces, shifting the discussion from the individual case to a broader issue. The fear she expresses looks to what is to come: "If they are not afraid to kill, femicides will increase." ©LAPSI.al
