
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation today with Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the occasion of the Russian leader's 74th birthday.
According to the Turkish Presidency, during the conversation the two presidents discussed relations between Turkey and Russia, the war in Ukraine, navigation safety in the Black Sea, as well as other regional and international issues.
Particular attention was paid to the situation in the Black Sea and efforts to resume contacts between Moscow and Kiev.
Erdogan stressed the importance of efforts to guarantee safe navigation in the Black Sea and stated that Turkey is ready to contribute to initiating contacts between Russia and Ukraine.
