On the 109th day of the protest, former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhaj gave a speech following the decision of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague regarding former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
Goxhaj called the decision unfair and said that, in his opinion, the process in The Hague constitutes “theatre.” In his speech, he also criticized the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, demanding his resignation and accusing him of the role that, according to Goxhaj, he had in the creation of the Special Court.
Below is Dritan Goxhaj's full speech:
"Dear fellow citizens. Today I will read a statement from the general coordination group. Today is a black day for freedom. Today in The Hague, severe sentences were handed down to four former members of the KLA. We are not talking about justice, but about injustice. We are talking about a court that has nothing in common with other courts.
They were based on false testimony. We are clear, this is not justice, but theater. The accused did not have proper defense. This is not justice, but organized injustice. This injustice is coming from Europe, which in 1913 tore Albania apart. Kosovo was given to Serbia. Stability in the Balkans is no longer used as a pretext. The KLA was not a terrorist movement, but a response to the genocidal Serbian state. The boys of Kosovo rose up, united and fought. Freedom is not given, but earned. They sacrificed, fell as martyrs. Today The Hague is trying to turn this victory into a crime. This is an insult. The story does not end here. Everything continues with this prime minister whose resignation we are demanding. In 2015, Edi Rama got into a helicopter and went to Kosovo to put pressure on the deputies in Kosovo to create this court. He told the Albanian deputies that this was the request of the allies. Today the same person writes on social networks, “get it”. He should be ashamed of what he says and does, he says get it to those deputies who he pushed to vote. The real shame is you. Rama is not a spectator, but an architect. They can pretend to have won, but the truth is that Kosovo is free, because the KLA fought. Kosovo is free because we fought. NATO fought, because the KLA’s war is just. The demand for Rama’s resignation is normal, he cannot come out to demand their justice, he sold Kosovo in 2015. Now he wants us to believe it, but no. Rama is not the solution but part of the problem".
