The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has ordered searches in relation to the former head of the State Police, Ilir Proda. SPAK is conducting searches in Proda's apartment. The action is related to an investigation in which the name of the former police chief has also emerged and the decision has determined a search of the apartment and personal belongings.
Proda is the former Director General of the State Police in Albania, who was dismissed from office on March 1, 2026 following opposition protests. He took over the leadership of the State Police on October 2, 2024, having previously served as Director of the Elbasan Police and in other leadership positions in Tirana and the surrounding areas.
