The former President of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, Enver Hasani, has stated that the passing of the deadline for electing the country's president does not constitute a constitutional violation, as long as the voting process began within the deadline.
In a statement to KosovaPress, Hasani said that it is important that the process has started on time, while the counting and announcement of the result may take several minutes beyond the deadline.
"What is important is that the process has started on time. The process of counting and announcing the result, even if it lasts a few minutes beyond the deadline, does not constitute a constitutional issue," said Hasani.
He emphasized that the Assembly is not considered dissolved solely due to the expiration of the term, as this requires a formal decree.
"No, because a formal decree is needed to dissolve the Assembly. The Assembly is fully empowered and without any constitutional flaw," he said.
Hasani also said that if the president is elected after the October 6 deadline, this would be in the best interest of the country.
"It's good for Kosovo. Today Kosovo won, because, at the last moment, the country won institutions with a full constitutional mandate," he declared. / KosovaPress
