Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj commented on "Çim Peka LIVE" on SYRI TV on the publication of wiretaps that, according to him, prove the way the Albanian state functions.
Referring to the published materials, Ahmetaj said that they do not cause him satisfaction, but according to him, they are evidence of a worrying situation in Albanian institutions.
"After those interceptions, there is not even the slightest room for pleasure. There is sadness, for mourning. In other words, they show how the state has been captured, how the state works for a few people selected by the head of the organization," Ahmetaj declared.
He linked this statement to a broader debate on the phenomenon of 'state capture', also referring to previous World Bank reports.
"You have to remember, some of you are very young. In 2004, for one millionth of this, the World Bank wrote in the report 'state capture,'" Ahmetaj said.
"Next week, to respond in my own way, I will publish one or two more passages, full of threats, I say. The head of the organization threatens me, they threaten me with brains, they threaten me without brains, they threaten me with hawks, they threaten me with prosecutors, they threaten me with former prosecutors and even the post of the mat. I am not impressed that the company threatens me because I have no business at all, at all.
I'll extract 2 more passages from the wiretap. What we extracted, 12 minutes. That's three hours.
Does "Monaco" exist?
"Here there is all of Europe, not Monaco anymore. Monaco has become the center of some photographs, wiretaps and wonders. Because we have not only operated on the islands. In Munich, in Monaco, former ministers, former secretaries and so on. Former brothers, former brothers-in-law, former..., oh there are wonders.
What wiretaps have come to me? I took the wiretap that came to me out directly. Sadly. They brought it, I don't know who brought it. Berisha was once the digital citizen, now you have returned to digital evidence. Why to you? Now, why to me? When the institution that brought it to me comes out, write a letter to the institution and say: why did you send it to Ben Ahmetaj? I don't know why, but they understand very well that in the face of threats, I don't compromise. No games with my file, 'look, I'm releasing it, I'm not releasing it', 'head of the organization, do this, X, Y'. No, I don't get into this at all. Zero. Zero" - said Ahmetaj. ©LAPSI.al
