
Melihate Shabani Ajeti is considered one of the most famous names on the Kosovo theater and cinema scene. She was born on October 9, 1935 in Pristina and completed her high school diploma there. After graduating from acting school, she specialized in Paris (Comedie Française). She was considered the “number one actress” of the Pristina theater. She started acting at the age of 16 in 1951 at the Kosovo Provincial Theater and performed 180 main roles on stage, proving her talent.
The roles in the plays are remembered: The Tyrant, The Dowryless Girl, The Lady with the Camellias, Besa, If I Were a Boy, Halili and Hajrija, Erveheja, Hanka, Hamlet, The Siege, Othello, Anna Karenina, The Death of a Queen, The Living Swing, Macbeth, Antigone, etc.

She also left her mark in the Kosovar and Yugoslav cinematography with roles in: Uka i Bjeshkëve të nemuna, Buka, The Lady with Camellias, Thirst, Bravery, The 5-legged Hare, The Wind of the Oak, Erveheja, When Spring is Late, The Stuck, Shots in the Air, Othello, The Flooding Stream, Migjeni, White Footprints, Magbeth, Dorotej, etc. She has been honored with a number of awards. ©LAPSI.al
