Prime Minister Edi Rama has invited justice institutions to a meeting on September 28 to discuss magistrates' salaries. The Prime Minister publicly invited them to the roundtable a day after the approval of the draft law on magistrates' salaries in parliament, which was opposed, emphasizing that they need to discuss a long-term solution. In his reaction on the social network X, the Prime Minister stated that experts from the Council of Europe and the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice will also be present at the roundtable.
According to him, they should handle the issue with "wisdom and patience" and to set an example of dignity before citizens and partners. The majority approved the SP draft law with 84 votes in favor, 24 against and 1 abstention, despite the objections of the judiciary and the opposition, who emphasized that the decision of the Constitutional Court was being violated. The magistrates have warned that they will send the approved law, and decreed a few hours later by the President, to the Constitutional Court.
