US President Donald Trump has reacted to the decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize, describing it as "shameful and embarrassing." His reaction comes after the award was given this Friday to former International Criminal Court judge Navi Pillay.
Hours after the winner was announced, Trump addressed the issue at a rally in Syracuse, New York. He said he had never heard of Pillay before, referring to her as someone he didn't know.
"This is an indelible stain on Norway," Trump declared, adding that "the United States will not forget this decision."
The US president has made no secret of his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize and has previously criticized the selection committee's decisions. In 2025, he also reacted after the prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
