The chairman of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted regarding the lack of a request from the Special Prosecution Office to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
In a reaction published as "Day 8", Bardhi states that this week has also ended without such a request from SPAK. According to him, Balluk's absence from Parliament, at a time when the majority needed 84 votes, shows the tension between her and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Bardhi claims that SPAK gave him in September the three reasons that Rama had previously mentioned regarding Balluku, referring to accusations of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
He emphasizes that the Special Prosecution Office must act independently of government and political interests. In his reaction, Bardhi states that SPAK is mandated to fight corruption and organized crime at the highest levels.
Finally, he also refers to securing the 84th vote in the early hours of the morning, claiming that Rama has crossed a "human limit", but adds that this issue is not related to Balluk.
"DAY 8"
This week also ended without the Special Prosecution's request to lift immunity, paving the way for the arrest of Belinda Balluku.
Her absence from Parliament, precisely when the SP needed 84 votes, clearly shows the tension between her and Edi Rama, who, in March, listed three reasons to arrest her and SPAK gave her all three in September: CORRUPTION, MONEY LAUNDERING, CONCEALMENT OF ASSET.
It is not up to SPAK to keep up with the Prime Minister's political calculations. SPAK is not mandated to wait for Edi Rama until he convinces Belinda Balluku to hand over the mandate.
SPAK is mandated to fight corruption and organized crime at the highest levels, independent of the government and its political interests.
PS To secure the 84th vote at 2 am, Edi Rama exceeded another human goal that is difficult to imagine. But this is another story, unrelated to Balluk" - writes Bardhi. /LAPSI.al
