The Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK) is undertaking a new initiative to give a social function to confiscated assets, this time in support of organizations that care for abandoned animals.
It concerns an area of land of about 7 thousand square meters in the outskirts of Tirana, which is intended to be made available to organizations operating in the field of animal protection and care.
The goal is that the confiscated property can be used to create and develop shelters for abandoned animals, creating more space for their accommodation, treatment, and protection.
The initiative has begun to attract interest from organizations in the field. So far, one organization has specifically expressed interest in taking advantage of this opportunity, while several other organizations have requested further information on the property, conditions, and how the initiative will be implemented.
The initiative was also made public during a visit to one of the animal shelters in Tirana, where the needs and difficulties that organizations and people who care for abandoned animals face every day were closely identified.
"Very soon, with the support of the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets, a new space will open its doors to more animals in need," the communication for the initiative states.
The provision of this area aims to be another case of social reuse of confiscated assets, directing them towards activities of public interest. In this case, a property that has passed under state administration can be transformed into a space that serves animal protection organizations and, directly, abandoned animals.
AAPSK is expected to continue communication with interested organizations to determine the concrete way to put the property into use and develop the project.
