Tirana Police has finalized the operation codenamed “WEB page”, within the framework of measures to prevent criminal activities in the vicinity of educational institutions. During the controls carried out in the territory surrounding the schools, the services of the Tirana Local Police Directorate have discovered two premises where illegal sports betting was organized and placed, in violation of the law. As a result of the operation, citizens aged 24 and 48 were arrested in flagrante delicto, while criminal proceedings were initiated against a 54-year-old and a 17-year-old.
According to the Police, in one of the premises, administered by a 48-year-old man, a citizen was caught red-handed placing sports bets via mobile phone. In the same premises, a 54-year-old man was also present, who is suspected of being involved in this activity. In the other premises, officers found a 17-year-old, employed by the premises, who was carrying out the activity of placing sports bets. As material evidence, the Police seized 5 mobile phones with active pages for placing sports bets. The operation was carried out within the framework of the special plan of measures to guarantee the safety of students, presented at the beginning of the new school year. The Police informs that monitoring and controls in areas near educational institutions will continue.
