PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza said he is optimistic that the amendment to the Law on Specialized Chambers will be passed tomorrow in the Kosovo Assembly.
In a press conference after the PDK Presidency meeting, he said that he expects this party's initiative to be supported by all MPs.
"Tomorrow, the session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo will feature the law amending and supplementing the Specialized Chambers. This is a legal initiative of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, but also massively supported by the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, for which I would like to express my gratitude and thanks for their support for this draft law."
"It has also received approval from the Government and now meets all the conditions for proceeding in the Assembly. Tomorrow I am optimistic that the law will be supported by all deputies, and I ask and invite all deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to support this draft law," he said.
Hamza was asked whether there will be a vote for Bekim Sejdiu's candidacy for president of Kosovo if the law on Specialized Chambers is voted on.
He said that the issue of the law on Specialized Chambers and that of the election of the president are two separate issues.
"First, I must separate these two things. The issue of the law and the issue of the president are separate things. The law is a necessity. The law addresses an issue that goes beyond the dimensions of a political entity, of a government mandate. The issues of individuals, citizens, it is a law that demands justice even after proving what the purity of the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army is.
"It was an imposed war, the people of Kosovo organized to protect their rights, for freedom, for independence, for a state, and the law has nothing to do with a political party, it has nothing to do with individuals, it has everything to do with protecting historical truth," Hamza declared.
He emphasized that the law, in his opinion, should not be linked to political agreements or bargaining for the election of the president.
"That's why we are talking about protecting historical truth here. And then, naturally, since the constitutional deadlines are approaching for the president, political parties are always going to talk about the issue of how to give the country institutions. But it's not like the Democratic Party treats it and considers it and allows this issue to be treated at the level of political bargaining. The work of the law is another matter and the work of the president is another matter," said the PDK leader. /LAPSI.al
