Poisoning of 6 children in Korça, the director of the public kindergarten

The police have placed under investigation for abuse of office the director of the public kindergarten in Korça where the poisoning of 6 children and a doctor occurred.

The latter did not notify the police about the appearance of children with similar symptoms coming from the kindergarten. The director is under investigation for failing to control the food that the children consumed.

Police announcement:

The Crime Investigation Specialists at the Korça Police Station prosecuted the following citizens, while they were at large, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of Office":

EX, 57 years old, working as a doctor at the Korça Regional Hospital, in the Pediatrics ward;

MK, 60 years old, is the director of the kindergarten where the children who had presented themselves to the hospital were staying.

The criminal proceedings began after, during yesterday afternoon and today, 6 children from the same kindergarten presented to the hospital, with the same gastrointestinal symptoms, and the doctor did not notify the Police.

While the kindergarten director is suspected of not having fulfilled her functional obligation regarding the control and verification of the food consumed by the children. The procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further procedural actions.
