
Nine people have been killed in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, in what authorities suspect is a multiple homicide followed by suicide. A pregnant woman and several children are reported to be among the victims. The shooting occurred Friday afternoon at a Perry Street apartment building.
Police were notified around 5:00 p.m. of shots fired inside the house. According to preliminary information, the suspect opened fire on the people inside the apartment, killing several of them, including two children. Two other women were found dead in the street, with gunshot wounds.
After the attack, the suspected perpetrator locked himself inside the apartment. SWAT units intervened and during the operation there was an exchange of fire. According to initial reports, the suspect then allegedly committed suicide. The preliminary toll is nine victims, including the suspected perpetrator, while investigations continue to unravel the motive and full dynamics of the incident.
