The heads of German intelligence services have warned of increasing threats that, according to them, are related to Russian activities against Germany and NATO countries.
According to foreign media reports, the head of the BND, Martin Jaeger, stated that Russia is waging a shadow war, through intimidation efforts and covert actions. According to him, these activities are no longer isolated cases and intelligence services constitute one of the main lines of defense. Meanwhile, the head of the Constitutional Protection Agency, Sinan Selen, warned that the suspected activities include sabotage, assassination attempts and disinformation campaigns.
He said that the situation is worsening and that German services must adapt their approach to these threats. In parallel, the Bundestag is expected to consider a bill that would give the secret services expanded powers for operational intervention in certain cases, especially to prevent sabotage.
