There has been talk of a Juve that was too brave in the end, convinced that it could win and naive in underestimating the counterattacks of the home team, so much so that only Douglas Luiz left in front of goalkeeper Vicario. Judgments that came as a result of a certainly negative result for a Juventus that, more than ever this year, must aim to improve its position in the standings of last season.
And that's exactly why Luciano Spalletti was immediately dropped, to the point where fans are already chanting Antonio Conte's name. Dismissal is not a possible option, according to the acting manager Giovanni Carnevali, who expressed his opinion on the matter after the match in Reggio Emilia: "Changing the coach is not in my spirit, we have to try to plan and build: we have to give it time and be patient, knowing that we will have to swallow some bitter mouthfuls."
The translation is clear: the change today does not serve the good of Juventus at all, the end must be touched before the rebirth. This is more or less what is conveyed by the black and white camp, although the name of a former like Conte excites the nostalgic: those who still have before their eyes the triumphs, the victories, the determination, the passion and the courage of the coach from Lecce, capable of regenerating Juventus after Calciopoli, when no one before him had been able to do it. At the moment Conte does not have a team and only the call from a big club or an ambitious project can make him end his sabbatical year.
Conte and the choice to take a sabbatical year after Napoli
Coach Conte's intention, after two seasons at Napoli, is precisely to wait a year before taking action. Of course, the hypothesis of returning in the middle of the season has never been in his nature: he always prefers a project that starts at the beginning of the season, so that he can personally manage both the physical preparation and the transfer market. Something that would not happen if he took over now.
What could make him change his mind would be, therefore, only the call of an elite European club, ready to reshape his season by entrusting the team to him. He is thinking of this Manchester United, disappointing in these first matches in the Premier League, which relies on the recognition of the English championship by Conte due to his experiences at Tottenham and Chelsea. But it will not be easy: the former Juventus and Napoli coach, in fact, precisely with Spurs has experienced his first and only experience as a coach taken in the middle of the season and of course it did not go well at all.
