
A serious tragedy has shocked the Albanian community in Greece and families in Fier. Three Albanians lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning in Glyfada, Athens, while two other young people were seriously injured.
According to Greek media, the accident occurred at around 02:00 on Poseidonos Boulevard, at the intersection with Kalypsous Street, towards Athens. A vehicle with five people inside went off the road and crashed forcefully into a concrete wall near a hotel.
The collision was so severe that the vehicle was almost completely destroyed. Firefighters arrived at the scene, while eight firefighters with three vehicles and special equipment were engaged in extracting the people trapped in the wreckage of the car.
Three of the five people did not survive their injuries. According to information released by Greek authorities, the victims are a 23-year-old, a 26-year-old and another person whose identity had not yet been made public at the time of the initial reports.
The two survivors, both 18 years old, were taken to hospital. One of them is in critical condition and intubated, while the other has suffered extensive injuries and is being treated.
Meanwhile, Greek traffic police have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident. Authorities are also reviewing security camera footage in the area, while at this stage there are no reports of any other vehicle being involved.
According to FieriWeb, the three victims are young people from Fieri. The news has further aggravated the pain of their families, while the two 18-year-olds continue to receive medical treatment after the tragic collision. /LAPSI.al
