There is an attempt, especially in pro-government media, but not only, to deal with the rosy dimension of the scandal of SHISH president Vlora Hyseni with defendant Ergys Agasi.
The trend is a product of both media interest in sexual topics and the masculinity that dominates our media, which identifies women with emotion, irrationality, and weakness, while men with rationality, stability, and strength.
From here it is easy to understand why many media and analysts are obsessed with the “love” relationship between the head of SHISH and Agas, or with the latter’s portrayal as a gigolo. Masculine logic explains that Ms. Hyseni’s downfall stemmed from her emotional weakness, in full accordance with our social stereotypes about the “weakness” of women.
Such an explanation also serves the government very well because it shifts the focus from corruption to Mrs. Hyseni's love. Of little importance in this explanation is the fact that even if the "love story" existed, its source is money and power much more than feelings.
It is hard to believe that the head of SHISH would have fallen in love with Ergys Agas if he had not had the power, wealth and connections to the underworld that his relationship with Prime Minister Rama had enabled him to have. These are the reasons that explain Hyseni's close connection with Agas, regardless of whether it was social, sexual or platonic.
There are plenty of handsomer and younger, and much more honest, boys than Ergys Agasi in our public administration and in SHISH who are simple employees, with whom Hyseni could have fallen in love in a romantic, albeit unethical or legal, way to fulfill her human and spiritual needs.
But there are only a handful of people like Agasi who control and steal millions of euros in tenders, who have strong connections with the criminal world and who are also friends of Prime Minister Rama, with whom they drink expensive wine in the heart of power. All these facts, which the Prime Minister claims he did not know, were clearly known to Vlora Hyseni as the head of SHISH.
In such a world there is no room for principles, love, romanticism, or human sensitivity. Love can degenerate into corruption, even banality. But banality and corruption never produce love.
Therefore, the story of Hyseni - Agasi is not a rosy story between two romantic characters who sacrifice everything for love a la Romeo and Juliet. It is a dark and banal story of the corruption of a high-ranking official with an incriminated person.
Its script was written by Chief Artist Rama. He is the true author of this story, because its two protagonists, Gysi and Vlora, are entirely his creations.
