Alket Rizai continues to be on the run for the fourth day in a row, after failing to return to Domokos Prison after the end of his leave, which expired on Monday morning.
According to Greek authorities, the Albanian convict is suspected of being involved in the shooting incident that took place in the early hours of Sunday near a beach bar in Anavyssos. Teams from the Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime, together with the local police, are conducting intensive searches to find him, but so far without result.
Meanwhile, suspicions are growing that Rizai, known for his close relationship with Vasilis Paleokostas, may have crossed into Albania illegally. Greek police sources say that his last location signal was recorded in northern Greece, an area from which it is suspected that he may have crossed the border. However, authorities emphasize that this remains an investigative lead and has not been confirmed.
Greek media reports that during the incident in Anavyssos, Rizai fired a gun into the air. The case against him includes charges of possession of a weapon and use of a weapon in serious circumstances, which are considered serious crimes in Greece. This new charge comes at a time when his release from prison was very close. Over the past five years, he had obtained 16 exit permits.
At the same time, Greek police are also searching for an Afghan national who is suspected of shooting and wounding people during the incident. According to investigators, he was connected to the business near which the gunfight took place.
