
A private business in the city of Peshkopia has become the subject of a serious threat, after the owner of the entity was asked to pay the sum of 50 million lek, with the warning that otherwise the business would be blown up.
According to preliminary information, the owner was sent a pizza box, inside which was a request for payment of a sum of money, along with some materials that are suspected of constituting a homemade device similar to an explosive.
After the discovery of the package, the area outside the city of Peshkopia was immediately surrounded by police forces. For about three hours, the perimeter was kept under control to guarantee the safety of citizens and to avoid any possible danger.
Demining and explosives neutralization specialists from Tirana have arrived at the scene, who have taken additional security measures to manage the situation.
Meanwhile, it is learned that businesses around the gas station have also been closed, while vehicle traffic has been diverted and continues via the Peshkopia ring road.
As part of the investigation, the Police have escorted several people, while investigative groups are working to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify the perpetrators of the threat.
Official confirmation from the State Police is awaited regarding the details of the incident, as well as the nature of the materials found in the package sent to the business.
