The 1-1 draw between Cagliari and Juventus had already gone down in history when tension erupted at the Unipol Domus stadium. Luciano Spalletti and Fabio Pisacane became the protagonists of a fierce verbal confrontation immediately after referee Matteo Marcenaro blew the final whistle.
The clash between the two coaches erupted at the end of the match. There was chaos near the sideline and the referee decided to send both of them off.
Spalletti and Pisacane quarrel after the final whistle
The match ended after four minutes of extra time, with Juventus having tried until the last moment to overturn the result. A little later, however, the attention shifted to the two coaches. Spalletti and Pisacane became involved in a heated verbal argument, to the point where Marcenaro intervened and showed both of them red cards.
The explanation for what may have caused the debate was later given by Spalletti himself, who spoke to DAZN's microphones. Everything, according to him, started with a comment by the Juventus coach about Cagliari's time wasting, which his red and black colleague did not receive well. The referee's double decision may now have disciplinary consequences, which will be assessed by the sports judge based on the match report.

Spalletti explains the debate: "I told them they also know how to waste time"
"Nothing happened. I told him they are good, they play well and they also know how to waste time. He asked me what I meant and the referee took us out. Everything normal". This is the version given by Luciano Spalletti to the DAZN microphones to explain what happened immediately after the final whistle.
According to the Juventus coach, the verbal confrontation began with a comment he made about the behavior of his opponents during the match. A compliment to the play displayed by Cagliari, accompanied, however, by a stinging remark about the way time was managed. Pisacane seems to have demanded an explanation precisely for this last remark, sparking the debate that later led to the expulsion of both.
The black and white coach described the episode with apparent calm, ironically concluding Marcenaros' decision and the phrase "Everything is normal." Television footage, however, shows a clearly tense confrontation, with the two technicians very close to each other and with the situation escalating when the Sardinian team coach grabbed his more experienced colleague by the arm.
Cagliari-Juventus and the wasted chances by the black and whites
The clash came at the end of a match where Juventus had been forced to follow the score since the 20th minute, when Daniel Maldini gave the red and black team the lead. Spalletti intervened in the formation at half-time, activating Zhegrova and Alajbegovic.
In the 81st minute, Kolo Muani equalized, after an assist from Alajbegovic. Four minutes later, the French striker hit the crossbar from a favorable position, while Caprile was decisive in the face of other Juventus chances, preventing the Turin team from overturning the result.
The match ended 1-1. Then, after everything was over on the field, came the fiery clash between the coaches and Marcenaros' decision to send both of them to the locker room early.
