The Real Madrid legend has spoken about his financial problems, caused by agents and some members of his family, who have left him penniless. He has had to recover everything from scratch, working as an ambassador for his former club, as he confessed during his participation in the Portugal Football Summit in Portugal, where he was one of the main guests on the first day.

Before retiring, the former defender already had the path he wanted to follow in mind: he had already obtained his sports director's license and was collaborating with several brands, a stroke of luck for him, who suddenly ran out of money. Roberto Carlos has recounted his financial drama: "I had problems with people who emptied my bank account. Due to agents and family problems, I lost 99% of everything I had earned from football." Before his divorce from his ex-wife, he had a fortune of more than 160 million euros, but was forced to start all over again after losing most of his income.

The former Brazilian international, World Champion in 2002, warns younger footballers: “I made mistakes and for that reason I ask young players not to make any more”. At the root of this disaster were some problems with an agent: “I had a serious problem with my former agent. I had a very serious family problem. On Thursday I went to bed at midnight and on Friday I received a stack of documents that I knew nothing about. That was when I lost all my history”. Today Roberto Carlos is 53 years old and works as an ambassador for Real Madrid, representing the club with which he has won everything around the world.
Turbulent separation from wife
A year and a half ago he went through a separation from his second wife, Mariana Luccon, whom he had married in 2009. He was forced to share part of his wealth with her in a long and costly process: according to rumors, for a period he would have lived in one of the rooms made available by Real Madrid in its sports center, a hypothesis later denied by Roberto Carlos himself.
