“If Europe prepares for war with Russia, Moscow will respond.” This was the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who accused some European countries of increasing military preparations and leading the continent towards a more dangerous confrontation. During a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission, Putin stated that some European leaders are openly talking about preparing for war with Russia. He also referred to the military exercises taking place in Europe.
"Let's live in peace; otherwise, we will have to respond too," Putin declared.
The Russian president called NATO expansion one of the main threats to Moscow. However, he claimed that Russia has no aggressive intentions and has no reason to attack European countries. Putin also accused the Ukrainian authorities of obstructing the resumption of peace negotiations. The Kremlin leader also touched on Russia's new weapons program. He said that strengthening the strategic nuclear arsenal remains one of Moscow's top priorities, claiming that 92% of Russia's strategic missile forces have been modernized.
