The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the government's decision, which paves the way for the construction of another tower, planned in the center of Tirana. Through a post on social networks, Bardhi writes that unlike the world that builds parks, Prime Minister Edi Rama builds towers for the interests of a handful of people. He warns that the DP will not allow Tirana to be transformed into a laundromat for laundering dirty money in the heart of Europe.
Bardhi's reaction:
The whole world builds parks. Edi Rama builds towers. Where European cities create more green spaces, Rama concretes public spaces and hands them over to towers. And the scheme is always the same: the same winners, the same circle, the same interests.
Tirana is not Edi Rama's personal property. It is not a square where the prime minister can do whatever he wants. Tirana is the heart of Albania. Parks and public spaces are the property of citizens and cannot be treated as loot to be divided among the clients of power.
We do not accept that Tirana will turn into a laundromat for laundering dirty money in the heart of Europe. Tirana needs parks, air and spaces for its citizens, not more concrete, towers and the interests of a handful of people.
