The chaos caused by the clash between Cristiano Ronaldo and the national team during the training camp in Copenhagen continues in Portugal. The tensions created during the training camp quickly spread to the streets of the Portuguese capital. This morning, Lisbon woke up to three large banners along the city's streets, which expressed their dissatisfaction with the matter. The messages combined a clear expression of gratitude to Cristiano Ronaldo with a direct attack on the management style of the national team coach, Jorge Jesus.
Three large banners were placed in strategic positions in the city, along road axes and in places of great symbolic sporting and institutional importance. Two of the banners appeared near the “Humberto Delgado” airport, while the other near the “da Luz” stadium, in the Benfica-Airport direction. The third banner, of large dimensions, was then placed near the headquarters of the Portuguese Football Federation and the center of the National Team.
The latter, a few hours after it was noticed and in front of the crowd of people and journalists who had gathered at the scene, was immediately removed due to “lack of permission”. Despite the quick removal, the content of the banners immediately became clear and the image went viral on social networks. “Thank you, Cristiano Ronaldo, for everything you have done for Portugal, thank you captain!” – the banner read, and then: “Jorge Jesus was not up to the task: lack of sensitivity in managing CR7, unfair treatment of a captain and an excessive ego.”

Who was the author? A few hours later it was learned that the banners had been placed by a man, who spoke about his initiative on a Portuguese radio station: “I am placing these banners in my name, they have nothing to do with any company, I am the one paying for the banners, which are not intended to incite anyone and I do not intend to create further controversy.”
The man thus took full responsibility for what he had done, acting only on instinct. “I want to clarify another point. I don’t know Ronaldo, I don’t know anyone from his staff, I only know myself and I feel gratitude, not contempt, for the people who have been and are useful to Portugal – he added. – Jorge Jesus was only the instrument through which all this happened, but there are others responsible.”
Meanwhile, the Federation has reportedly begun work to try to repair the rift and allow Cristiano Ronaldo to end his career with dignity, and certainly not in this way. It is not a nice recognition of what the former United, Real and Juventus player has done during his glorious career.
