Austrian documentary on corruption in Albania/ Journalist gives details: Facts

Investigative journalist Lindita Çela has revealed details from the Austrian documentary that is being prepared about corruption in Albania. During an interview on the "Task Force" show with Sonila Meço on SYRI TV, Çela said that the documentary that is expected to be published and that deals with corruption in Albania is in the process of editing and checking facts.

In this regard, the journalist emphasized that extensive investigative and documentary work has been done for this documentary, so it is not a production based solely on a few interviews.

Çela stated that one of the reasons that has pushed the Austrian team to deal with Albania is the narrative created in recent years about corruption and accusations that have affected senior political officials in the country.

"I believe it is in the process of editing, but also of checking the facts because it is an investigative documentary. It is not, let's say, one interview or two interviews, four interviews. It is provided with as much as I know because, let's say, I know the director, we have a friendly relationship, I know his work, I know how scrupulous he is in relation to evidence, to facts, but also to telling a story.

And what convinced him to make a documentary, to be involved in a documentary in Albania, is precisely, I think or as far as I've communicated, the narrative that has been told in the last 5 years. Maybe since we had the first case of Saimir Tahiri's arrest.

You remember that initially Mr. Tahiri gave two or three statements and then agreed to be sentenced for abuse of office, all charges of drug trafficking, of filling Albania were dropped, because if before 2014 we had Lazarat, then from 2015-2016 onwards the whole of Albania was filled, there was no more talk.

Then we heard Mr. Ahmetaj come out and say that look, the decision or order to fill Albania with cannabis was taken by the prime minister and at least as I heard the interview on your television, he says that there was also a debate with the prime minister. Then we had other ministers, starting at the level of the minister in sectors such as health, education, environment, and so on and so forth.

And again the narrative said or the justification without being introduced... and the debate or the battle that the prime minister has had even with justice, because there is a double standard. At the moment when Mrs. Balluku was under indictment and now we have another approach from the prime minister who defends her and then says that story that everyone is eating pears behind his back.

"I think that the focus of the journalists or the director, I think that those people who are under accusation have not eaten the pears, they have eaten a tiny tail from the pear if we are going to continue this kind of narrative," said the journalist. /LAPSI.al

Blendi Kajsiu: Prime Minister's misunderstanding on anti-corruption

The fact that no institution of our public administration noticed that millions of euros were invested in phantom incinerators, that AKSHI was controlled by an ordinary criminal, that the directors of the Municipality of Tirana awarded tenders to themselves, or that the police director and the director of SHISH worked for Gysi, shows that we do not have a public administration and a state.
