Kosovo failed to seize the opportunity to take an important step towards the top of Group B3 in the Nations League. The “Dardans” faced Israel in Hungary, in a match where the performance was significantly better compared to the one against Austria, but the lack of a goal left Franco Foda’s team with only one point.
The match ended 0-0, a result that does not fully reflect Kosovo's effort during the 90 minutes. The Kosovar team appeared more liberated in its play and had moments where it could have demanded more, but in the decisive moments it lacked concretization.
A change in the game, but not in the result
After the loss to Austria, where Kosovo struggled to display a fluid game and seemed limited in terms of maneuverability, against Israel a different face of the team was seen. Foda made some changes to the lineup, while his choices were also influenced by the absences available. Despite this, the “Dardans” managed to build a more balanced match and create dangerous moments.
The main problem remained the finishing. Kosovo failed to convert its chances and initiative into goals, causing a match where the maximum could have been aimed for to end in a goalless draw.
Austria stops, but Kosovo does not benefit
In the other group match, Ireland took a point from Austria, with the match ending 2-2. This result created a golden opportunity for Kosovo to close the gap with the leaders and move significantly closer to the top.
However, the draw in Hungary meant that the gap remained the same. After three matches in Group B3, Austria leads with 7 points, while Kosovo and Ireland share the quota of 4 points. For the “Dardans”, this means that each subsequent match takes on even greater weight in the race for the top positions.
Everything can be decided against Austria
Kosovo's attention now shifts to the next challenge, namely against Austria. The match will be played on October 4, from 18:00, at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium. This match could have particular importance for Kosovo's performance in the group. The "Dardans" are three points behind Austria and a positive result in the direct confrontation would give Foda's team the opportunity to fully reopen the competition.
The draw against Israel does not complicate the situation in a definitive way, but at the same time does not give Kosovo the boost that was expected after Austria's stoppage in the match against Ireland. Now everything remains to be decided on the field. Kosovo must turn the positive performance into a result, while the match against the group leader will be the next test for Franco Foda's team.
