Jurgen Klopp has had a very bad start to his career as Germany coach. Two games and just one point. A draw in the Netherlands and then a home defeat to Greece in the Nations League. Criticism has been pouring in, with some even writing that he has lost his magic touch. The biggest criticism has been for the players, some of whom were having their first experiences with the German national team. Criticism that the former Liverpool coach has not given importance to, but which has enraged him when he was asked at a press conference for a comment on dozens of racist posts that appeared on social media after the defeat to Greece. Klopp reacted harshly.
Racist criticism against German footballers
There were many shameful racist comments on social media after the 0-1 defeat to Greece. Comments that went beyond football. More than one user wrote that the team was not “German enough” or “white enough”. The level of comments was appalling. But not surprising, considering the way the recent elections in Germany went.
Jurgen Klopp's very harsh response
Klopp, of course, was already aware of this and responded to this question very firmly: "There is no reason to worry about these people. I am not interested in them. In everyday life I have almost no time for nonsense, the same goes for social media." In a later question, at a press conference that was already quite heated, he raised his tone even further: "The biggest problem of our time is that everyone has the right to express their opinion. It is crazy to see things like this."
Speaking about football, the coach spoke about the players who have gathered for the October matches. An initial group of twenty-two players gathered for the first two matches will be joined by another group, also of twenty-two players, saying that the two groups have very quickly managed to create good cohesion in the locker room.
