An unprecedented situation is reported to have occurred a month ago in the city of Durrës, where the head of the Kruja Police Station, Elton Shahini, was involved in a conflict with a driver.
According to the footage, Shahini is seen riding a motorbike and at one point curses at the driver of a vehicle, saying: "F*ck your sister." After this insult, the situation escalates and the driver gets out of the car and approaches Shahini, slapping him.
The driver of the vehicle also addresses Shahin with the words: "Who are you insulting?!".
Footage of the conflict was shared by former MP Myslim Murrizi. The person who hit the police officer is said to be the owner of a hotel that collapsed in the November 26, 2019 earthquake in Durres. Shahini did not file a complaint with the Durres Police and according to the data, the conflict was considered a banal clash between two people and was later closed.
After the release of the footage, Shahini reacted to Top Channel regarding the incident, giving his version of the circumstances and dynamics of the event. He says that at the time of the incident he was off-duty, it was the weekend, and he was riding his motorcycle to the beach, when the driver of a vehicle, who also appears in the video, according to him, performed dangerous maneuvers and hit him with the car mirror.
"It was the weekend, an official holiday. I was going to the beach, I was riding my motorcycle, I was at work. At that moment, the driver seen in the video was driving irresponsibly on the road and making dangerous maneuvers. When he passed me, he hit me with his mirror," Shahini told Top Channel.
According to the head of the Kruja Police Station, there was then a verbal altercation between him and the driver of the vehicle.
"He cursed at me, I cursed at him," says Shahini.
He denies threatening or using physical violence against the other person involved in the incident.
"I did not threaten him nor did I use physical violence," he declared.
Shahini also emphasizes that, although he was a civilian and outside official working hours, he did not use his authority as head of the Kruja police station during the conflict.
"Despite the physical violence and insults against me, at no time have I used my official authority, have I not threatened with the position I hold and have not responded with physical violence," said the head of the Kruja Police Station. ©LAPSI.al
