From martial arts performances in China to fashion shows in Seoul, humanoid robots are increasingly emerging from factories and research labs to expand their reach.
Now, a Chinese dancer and his robotic knights have brought this technological experimentation to the "America's Got Talent" stage.
Chinese dancer Wu Yufei and his team of robots managed to reach the finals of "America's Got Talent," combining synchronized choreography with kung fu-inspired moves.
The 26-year-old dancer and engineer from Sichuan impressed the judges at the world's most popular talent show. The Hangzhou-based company Unitree had already attracted attention with a performance during Chinese New Year celebrations, when its robots performed kung fu and synchronized dances while wearing traditional costumes.
The stage appearance of the popular talent show is another example of how humanoid robots are now being tested not only in the field of industrial work, but also for activities that require balance, coordination, synchronization and the ability to react to human movements. /AFP
