In April 2014, the current Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, then a member of Parliament, warned Hashim Thaçi about the creation of the Special Court.
Kurti emphasized that Thaçi was allowing the tribunal because he thought he himself would not end up facing it, while today the former President of Kosovo was sentenced to 25 years in prison for several charges.
"Thaci is allowing the tribunal because he thinks he himself will not end up there. If there is an international friend who helps Kosovo, he would do it by telling the prime minister that he himself will end up there. If he is told that he himself will end up there, there is no tribunal; but his hope that he will not go there himself, but his friends, makes him say that we have a challenge and a responsibility.
"Now you are expected to vote in court against the KLA. This should have been unacceptable on your part as citizens of the republic and even more so as deputies of the republic, if you have seriously considered yourselves as deputies and Kosovo as a republic," said Kurti, who received only a smile from Thaçi, who held the office of prime minister. /LAPSI.al
