New details have emerged from the explosive attack that shook Gjirokastra on Saturday evening, where Beqir Devolli, known by the nickname 'Çilo', lost his life in hospital, while Erigers Mela was injured.
According to sources from the investigation group, the explosive was activated by remote control. The person suspected of activating the explosive had followed the victim from a distance from the Viroi area, for about 3 kilometers, to the site of the explosion.
Beqir Devolli, known as 'Çilo', had been drinking coffee with his friend and then got into the car. Moments later, the vehicle was engulfed in an explosion that killed him and injured Erigers Mela.
According to information made public, the victim and the passenger had previously been threatened via phone calls. Mela's vehicle was also burned last year, in what is suspected to be a warning act. Beqir Devolli reportedly spent two years under house arrest in Tirana.
Another element being examined by investigators is the fact that the explosion occurred in front of the police premises. According to investigative sources, the perpetrators are suspected of waiting for the road to clear before detonating the explosives.
As part of the investigation, the possibility of a possible connection to the murder of Artan Myrtaj, who was shot to death in Saranda about two weeks ago, is also being examined.
Investigations continue to identify the perpetrators, to clarify the motives of the assassination, and to verify whether the incident is related to the murder that occurred in Saranda. /syri.net
