The Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office announced that a person suspected of the attack on KFOR and the Kosovo Police in May 2023 has been arrested in Zvecan.
A joint statement states that the suspect, Igor Marković, is suspected of the following offenses: assault on an official, participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism, association for unconstitutional activities, and endangering persons under international protection.
It is suspected that he was a Serbian policeman and that he entered Kosovo from Serbia through the northern part.

The violence in Zvecan erupted when local Serbs opposed the entry of new Albanian mayors into municipal buildings in Zvecan, Leposavić and Zubin Potok, municipalities in northern Kosovo inhabited by a Serb majority, following the May 2023 local elections that were boycotted by Serbs.
Kosovo has blamed Serbia for those events, saying they were carried out by “criminal groups close to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.” During the clashes, 93 KFOR members were injured, some of whom were seriously injured. ©LAPSI.al
