Italian media have revealed new details about the death of 46-year-old Ornella Forastefano in the town of Amendolara, in the province of Cosenza (Calabria). She was found with multiple wounds on her body at the emergency room door of the Trebisacce hospital at around 3 am on August 16. Doctors intervened immediately, but her wounds were too serious and she did not survive.
The Castrovillari Prosecutor's Office's investigations immediately focused on her partner, a 42-year-old Albanian identified as Elvis Metvelaj. He was declared wanted after he left the apartment. The Carabinieri managed to locate and stop him at the port of Bari, as he was about to take the ferry to leave Italy. He is being questioned to fully clarify the dynamics.

Metvelaj, 42, had lived in Calabria for several years. He had been dating the victim for some time, although the woman's family did not welcome him. The nature of their relationship and what happened are still unclear. In 2020, he was arrested in connection with a drug trafficking case.

Ornella Forastefano came from a well-known family in the Sibaritide area of Calabria, being the daughter of Pasquale Forastefano, who is in the strict regime of the Italian prison "41-bis" (for mafia bosses). Ornella herself had not been investigated and previous property proceedings against her warehouses had been dismissed by the court. ©LAPSI.al
